Stone, and how it ages
We returned to six projects completed a decade ago to photograph the stone exactly as it stands today — unsealed, unpolished, and visibly lived on. The travertine at the entrance of a 2017 residence has taken on a soft matte patina where a decade of hands has passed over the same corner.
This is the argument for choosing a material that ages rather than one that simply resists time. A floor should look better, not merely intact, after ten years of use.
